This is a large standing stone, situated beside the old Houstry schoolhouse, in the middle of a flat moorland area. There are two outlying stones which could be associated with the stone. The stone aligns E-W, and is pointed at the top.
Described by the RCAMS (1911): "Situated on the moor some 50 yards SE of Houstry School is a tall standing stone. It is a slab 8' in height, 2'5" in breadth, and 1'5" in thickness. It is pointed to the upper extremity and faces E and W."
